Lace Wall, Block Island, RI. Stones are all roughly the same size, which makes pore space unavoidable.

At the present time, the SWI can no longer support routine travel programming to faciliate its goals on a regular basis. Exceptions will be made for certain circumstances. The SWI is leaving a description of the programs up on the web site in the hope that they can be available soon.

  • Public Presentations - generally afternoon or evening lectures for historical societies, land trusts, conservation organizations, public libraries, garden clubs, and other civic groups. Due to the heavy demand, these programs are available for larger groups, generally annual meetings or co-sponsored events.
  • School Enrichment - generally daytime programs in local school systems, either classroom enrichment for the learning community, or professional development workshops for teachers (often involving continuing education credit).
  • Excursions and Field Trips - generally either a multi-stop road tour to interesting stone walls, or a guided hike on property owned/managed by the sponsoring organization.
