Introduction - Art - Investigating Walls

Stone colors in Acadia National Park associated with weathering. Note pink granite just left of center along bottom. This is the true color of the rock. The rest are associated with rust, salts, and sulfates associated with weathering of the surface. Note tuft of grass at left.

Stone walls can be:

  • Seen as Folk Art objects, in and of themselves.
  • Illustrations of the fundamental elements of art, notably color, line, texture, pattern, and shading.
  • Used as a stationary object to be interpreted in any medium, such as by sketches, drawings, paintings, models, or sculpture.
